Role of the Clearinghouse

The Australian Domestic and Family Violence Clearinghouse is a national resource on issues of domestic violence and family violence. It provides a central point for the collection and dissemination of Australian domestic and family violence policy, practice and research. 

It aims to meet the information needs of government agencies, generalist and specialist service providers, researchers and interested members of the public. See our brochure for more information on the role and function of the Clearinghouse. and the Contact us page for details of who we are.

 

Clearinghouse partners

The Clearinghouse is funded under the Women's Safety Agenda through the Office for Women, Australian Department of Family and Community Services.


The Clearinghouse is linked to the Centre for Gender-Related Violence Studies, School of Social Work, UNSW.

Services of the Clearinghouse

Databases

The Research and Resources database contains details of over 3000 books, articles, posters, videos, training manuals and similar resources focusing on domestic and family violence.

The Good Practice database contains details of programs, projects or services around Australia. Information about this database can be found here.

Publications

The Clearinghouse produces quarterly newsletters and issue papers, and, from time to time, comprehensive literature reviews and occasional research reports.

Read more about the Clearinghouse's publications and obtain electronic or print copies of those already published.

The Clearinghouse is also proud to be making available papers presented at three Australian conferences during 2001-2002.

News

The Clearinghouse publishes current news on events focused on domestic violence and family violence, including conferences, seminars,  workshops, awards and international issues.

Library/information service

The Clearinghouse will assist with locating information about all aspects of domestic and family violence.  Contact the Information Officer.

Research

The Clearinghouse will identify gaps in available information and has the capacity to undertake original research -- most recent research undertaken was the 'Staying home, leaving violence' .

Topics

The Clearinghouse has produced a topic-based directory of its information resources. 

State Resources

The Clearinghouse has produced a state-based guide of resources offered on this site, including legislation.
